Watching Top Gear on BBC America last night. The episode is a rerun and features Simon Pegg promoting Hot Fuzz.
An hour later, BBC America plays Hot Fuzz.
I'm not complaining.

You need to start by tricking him into drinking tea. Then into watching Monty Python and the Holy Grail a couple of times, then short clips of Black Adder or Jeeves and Wooster - which may require some House first. The objective is to build up enough Britishness in his bloodstream that he'll be magnetically attracted to the movie against his will.

Well, nor do a lot of Brits, although a lot of those denials are oddly specific. Whatever latent Brit you *do* have is apparently enough to have allowed you to watch Hot Fuzz, him, apparently not so much. Hence transfusion.

I quite enjoy the Cornetto Trilogy.
The roommate flat-out refuses to watch Shaun of the Dead because it has zombies. And he refuses to watch Hot Fuzz or The World's End because it has the same actors. Yet he'll watch every boring weeaboo moeblob slice of life anime that Japan can fart out.

You know what you must do: run Hot Fuzz through a cel-shading process. Then turn on subtitles. He'll be so distracted by that fact that it's "animated" and reading the subtitles that he'll fail to recognize it's the same movie. Best to start with a version in another language - not that British is easy to understand always.
How far gone on the anime front is he, though? Like... watching Tokyo Mew Mew gone? Or generic I Watch Better Anime Than You type stuff with, say, Prince Of Tennis?

I really don't plan to be in Japan permanently, though I do enjoy visiting. Also, I generally don't like zombie movies. Never really find them fun or funny. But I've never been completely unwilling to watch them. I'd like to say I'm not generally snooty about anime. Also, Prince of Tennis looked fucking awful. and I've never seen Tokyo Mew Mew.

Heh. I had a roommate who was big into Prince of Tennis - it just seemed like a really sterile, joyless sort of... almost DBZ alternative. Mostly I was winding Tohru up on the topic of "somehow de-Japan-ing" you.
But seriously - I don't like Shaun of the Dead much, but I absolutely love Hot Fuzz. You should give it a shot.
